If you can't poke fun at yourself then you should lighten up!
In the midst of my afternoon snack chomping on pistachios today at work, my pregnant co-worker asked me to check my teeth because it appeared I had something in them.
In a hurry to get a project completed, I brushed her off and said I'd get it eventually. Then I remembered the scene from the movie Bridesmaids where the Bride-to-be and maid of honor characters were cracking up by putting random pieces of food over their teeth to make each other laugh. I paused to make a silly teeth baring smile and made a face like they did. She almost fell out of her chair in amusement. "Julie, you better check your teeth. Really."
So I grabbed my phone, switched it to selfie mode and saw that my old bond had broken off right in front.
I guess I swallowed it!
We laughed so hard to the point where I thought she might deliver her baby early, right in her cubicle. After a couple minutes, other folks came by to see what the hysterical laughs were about, and then enjoyed the funny little break.
Who knew what a morale booster knocking part of my tooth out would be!
I was able to get an emergency spot at my dentist for tomorrow at 11a. My ride home on the MBTA has been more fun than it should be as I deliberately stand close to people and mutter to myself.
It just doesn't take much to get me goofy.
